Weddings & Diets

Are you excited about your upcoming wedding but dreading the fact that you need to lose weight? If so, you are among the majority of bride and grooms. To make matters worse, the entire planning process is filled with temptations that will make reaching your ideal weight even more challenging. If you think about it, you will have the engagement party where all types of delicious foods and desserts are offered. Then, you move on to luncheons with the wedding party and family, the bridal or wedding shower, the rehearsal dinner, and so on.

The best thing you can do for yourself is to have a game plan in place, meaning when you do attend all the parties and showers, start by sitting as far away from the tempting foods as possible. Additionally, remember that you will eat so instead of torturing yourself, allow yourself a certain number of food items. This way, you can still enjoy the event and taste the wonderful food without going overboard. For instance, if chocolate cheesecake is on the menu, your favorite dessert in the world, skip all the other desserts so you can enjoy a small slice.

Keep the wedding, reception, and honeymoon at the forefront of your mind. By talking about the event, keeping photographs in sight, and making this a prime focus, you will be giving yourself a reminder that overeating will not let you fit into your dress or tuxedo and ultimately make you miserable. Instead, you want the discussions and thoughts of the wedding, reception, and honeymoon to be an encouragement, a focus for achieving your goal.

Learn to eat differently, not just for the upcoming wedding but also for life. This is actually easier than you might think. You need to start by changing your mindset and learning how to cook with healthier and lower calorie foods. In addition to this, you do not want to deprive yourself of the foods you love. In this case, the key is food in moderation. For instance, if you love potato chips, first, switch to a low fat brand and second, cut back.

One of the best things you can do for losing weight and for your overall health is to stop drinking. While an occasional glass of wine is actually good for the body, most alcoholic drinks, especially beer and foo-foo drinks are loaded with calories. Again, if you do enjoy a beer or drink, you can still have one but cut back. You would be amazed at how much impact alcohol has on your weight.

In addition to your new eating habits, you need to get involved with a workout program. Check with your local gym and have them create a special program designed around your needs. By the time, the wedding day arrives, you will feel and look like a million bucks, glad that you make the step to change your diet and get your body into shape.
