Wedding Dances

One of the two most important and fun aspects of the wedding reception is eating the cake, and spending time on the dance floor. With dancing, if the right band or DJ is chosen along with the right type of music, you can get even the hardest to please guest up dancing in no time. The goal is to offer something for the majority of people so that everyone has a great time.

Typically, you should consider hiring a band or DJ that can incorporate traditional songs with songs that are unique. This might be offering guests the Waltz or Fox Tot and then mixing things up with some rock and roll, country western, and even a few whimsical dances such as the every famous, Chicken Dance.

The first dance is a longstanding tradition that is performed prior to anyone else stepping onto the dance floor. Because this dance is symbolic, the music should be special, something that reflects the couples relationship. For instance, the Waltz is a common choice in that many romantic and sentimental songs will work with the rhythm and the dance itself is beautiful and flowing.

After the bride and groom have completed their dance, the bride and her father will then take the dance floor. This too is a special time and the music chosen should be something that the two of them will cherish. For example, you might choose a song such as Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle. The goal is to spend a few minutes with your father, letting him know that even though you have now become a married woman, you will always be his little girl. Other outstanding song choices for the bride and groom, as well as the bride and her father include the following:
  • Isnt She Lovely Stevie Wonder
  • Daddys Little Girl Kippi Brannon
  • Because You Loved Me Celine Dion
  • Sunrise Sunset Fiddler on the Roof
  • Through the Years Kenny Rogers
  • Wind Beneath My Wings Bette Midler
  • The Way You Look Tonight Frank Sinatra
  • What A Wonderful Life Louis Armstrong
  • Three Times A Lady Lionel Richie and the Commodores
Typically, once the bride and her father have completed their dance, the groom would then escort his mother onto the dance floor, taking special time with her. Just expect that this moment will be sentimental and difficult for your mom and many tears will be shed. Although you will find a number of excellent song choices, we would recommend any of the following:
  • A Song For My Son Mikki Vierick
  • You Decorated My Life Kenny Rogers
  • Unforgettable Nat King Cole
  • Blessed Elton John
  • I Wish You Love Natalie Cole
  • In This Life Bette Midler
