Bridemaids Cost Cutting

Since the bridesmaids are traditionally responsible for any expenses associated with being in a wedding, things can quickly become expensive for some. If you have been asked to stand up with a sister or friend as a bridesmaid, but know that money will be a bit of a challenge, you can do a few things to help cut costs.

After all, you will probably be looking at the cost of the bridesmaids dress, shoes, a trip to the hair salon, possible airline flight, hotel accommodations, food expense, the wedding shower, brides gift, he bachelorette party and so on. Before you know it, you will have spent $1,000 or more easily.

The best thing to do if you are financially unable to take care of everything is to talk to the bride and be honest. She may be able to modify things, help you out with some of the expenses, or the two of you may determine that you simply cannot afford the role. However, if you know that your dear friend will be getting married and that chances are that you will be asked to serve as one of her bridesmaids, you should have several months to start saving, which will help.

Additionally, if you want to save money for the dress, keep in mind that most brides do consider everyones financial situation. Regardless, you and the other bridesmaids can talk to the bride, suggesting a certain style of gown that would be affordable and something that could be worn well after the wedding. If you live in another state and will have to have your gown purchased for you, the best thing you can do is ensure the measurements you provide are accurate. That way, you will avoid the extra expense of alterations.

For shows, you can often find nice shoes at discount shoe stores, even if they need to be dyed. While you could spend a fortune, you do not have to. For your hair, you might consider a family member or friend that can do a great job without paying the cost of a high dollar salon. Even makeup can be done by a professional without it costing you a dime. All you need to do is schedule a makeover at your local large, department store. They will happily make you up free!

If you need a manicure and/or pedicure, you can usually visit a local cosmetology school and have a perfect job done at a fraction of the cost. You can even save money on your airfare simply by booking your trip as far in advance as possible. The further out you plan, the better price you will secure. Additionally, always book nonrefundable tickets to save money.

Finally, although you probably want to do something extraordinary for the bride in buying her a gift that is unique and expensive, remember that she could care less, as long as the gift comes from the heart!
