Wedding Costs - Groom

Almost everyone knows the costs associated with the bride and bridal party. There is the wedding gown, the dresses for the bridal party, shoes, hair accessories, makeup, nails, and so on. However, not many people know the costs associated with the groom. Just as with the bride, the groom also needs special attention on this very special day and therefore, has his own expenses.

For starters, if you plan to go with a traditional rehearsal dinner, it is the grooms family, but more so today, the groom and his family tat pay. This means hosting a full dinner and sometimes entertainment for anywhere from 20 to 40 people, depending on the number of guests invited. Now there are times when the bride and grooms family will go into this together but the main price still falls back on the groom.

Another major expense if going the traditional route is the honeymoon. Many times, the groom will plan everything and not even tell the bride. He pays for the trip and surprises her as a gift. Other times, the groom will confer with the bride but either way, he typically pays.

The next expense is yet another expensive one the engagement and wedding ring for the bride. You could purchase a beautiful, quality ring from an estate sale, an auction, or on sale from your local jewelry store but even then, you are still looking at hundreds of dollars. Then, if you want to buy something elaborate and extra special, you could go up into the thousands or even tens of thousands.

For gifts, the groom usually buys something special for his bride to present to her just before the wedding. In most cases, one of the members of the bridal party will take the gift to the bride along with a note of endearment. This might include a pair of diamond earrings, a pearl necklace, a bracelet, or some other type of gift. There are no rules just that the gift is from the heart. The other gift that the groom is responsible for is something special for his Best Man and the other groomsmen. This could be anything from a money clip to dinner certificates but the gift for the Best Man should be nicer.

Other expenses include flowers. This would be for the brides corsage when time to leave the reception, corsages for the immediate family members, and boutonnieres for the attendants. The grooms tuxedo, whether renting or buying is also his expense as well as the cummerbund, tie, and gloves, if worn.

Finally, the hotel accommodations for any out of town people in the wedding typically falls back to the groom. He would also pay for any transportation needs, the marriage license, required medical tests, and so on. As you can see, he too has many expenses to make the wedding happen.
