Wedding Planning Tips

Anyone that has planned a wedding, regardless of size will tell you that planning a wedding is a big process that takes time, effort, and money. Even if you were to plan a small, intimate wedding, you will find that you have more things to consider than you thought. To help save you time and money, we have put some valuable tips together for you.

One of the best ways to plan a wedding is to hire a wedding consultant. These professionals know how to make the process fun and easy but they do come with a price tag. For somecouples, a wedding consultant is the ideal option but if you find that you are on a tighter budget or simply want to do all the planning yourself, then we have other recommendations.

First, start with a list of all the items you need to accomplish. Start from the very beginning the invitations and then work your way down through each aspect of the wedding. This would include choosing the bridal party, wedding color and/or theme, the wedding and bridal gowns, hair accessories, makeup, workout regimen, bridal shower, gift registry, flowers, band, food, and so on. You will quickly discover that your list is quite long, which is exactly why creating a checklist is so important. After all, the last thing you want is to miss something critical. In fact, if you do not have a planner/organizer, this would be the ideal time to purchase one.

If you plan to have your wedding in another city, state, or country, you will need to send out invitations well in advance. Typically, the invitations would go out about two months prior to the wedding but in this case, you might need to send them out six months out with a follow up reminder about two to three months out. This will make things so much easier for the guests needing to make travel arrangements.

Once you know where your wedding and reception will be, you should go ahead and get the reception booked immediately. This would be especially important if you are choosing a location popular for other events or if your wedding/reception will be in the summer when hundreds of weddings are taking place. By booking as soon as possible, you will find that you have more options and better options. An excellent choice for something different but a location that all the guests will enjoy is a restaurant at a sporting arena or a lovely garden. Many cities have botanical gardens that have areas specifically designed for events such as a wedding reception.

You will be working with many different professionals to include the florist, photographer, caterer, and so on. Staying in touch on a regular basis is the best way to ensure nothing is missed. Typically, the professional vendors do a very good job of staying on top of things but sometimes, things can go wrong. By keeping in touch and just following up as the big day nears will ensure things are on track and it will give you peace of mind.

Another tip is that as you plan your wedding reception and honeymoon, look at hotels that offer package deals. Most of the larger hotels offer wonderful packages that would include the food, beverages, entertainment, and even a honeymoon suite for an amazing price. By purchasing a package deal, you save both time and money, which when planning a wedding is a major benefit.

Finally, although you will not know everyone needing a thank you card, once you have determined the vendors for your wedding you should address thank you cards in advance. This would also work for family and friends that you know will be at your wedding or participating in this event. In your downtime, you can address the envelopes and begin writing personal notes of gratitude, saving you time after the wedding.
