Wedding Transportation

For your upcoming wedding, you are going to be a very busy person. In addition to all the errands, you will be going back and forth from the parties, the rehearsal dinner, the wedding, the reception, and to the airport for your honeymoon. For all of your transportation needs, you should plan to schedule everything no later than six months prior to the wedding date. To help you get where you need to go and save money, consider these tips.

Depending on the type of vehicle you choose, you can expect to pay anywhere form $4 to $100 per hour. Most limo and sedan companies will build in a 15% to 20% gratuity automatically and require that you rent the transportation for a minimum time, typically two hours. However, if you have more than one person using the transportation, the cost can be split. For instance, hiring a car to take the parents, grandparents, and bride and groom to and from the rehearsal dinner could help lower the cost.

Another way to save would be to use a six-person sedan over a limo. While you may not have the color television, full stereo system, and open bar, you will still have a beautiful car to ride in with some amenities.

For your wedding and/or reception, depending on the location you may need to have someone handle the parking situation. If you are using a public restaurant, church, or banquet hall, usually there is a site manager that will take care of the parking situation for you. If not, then you could have reliable members of the family or friends help but better yet, hire an independent company. This way, no one misses the wedding. You can expect to pay from $20 to $30 per attendant to cover about two hours. For weddings of 100 guests, you would plan on at least five parking attendants.

If the reception is 20 t0 30 minutes from the church and you know there is limited parking, you could have everyone leave their vehicles at the church and hire buses to take the guests to the reception. For those that prefer to drive, they can but this will save a lot of parking headaches and still make sure everyone gets to the reception for food and fun.

One of the most important things to do is be prepared. If you know there will be a list of people needing to be picked up from the hotel, church, airport, and so on, use one service and provide all the details. This way, they can coordinate things well on their end to ensure everyone is picked up on time and taken to the appropriate location.

Finally, make sure you never leave the reception without the car decked out with the Just Married signs and streamers. Many transportation companies will supply this and even do the decorating themselves so all you have to do is enjoy.
