Wedding Location Tips

When it comes time to choose the location for your wedding, you want to start the planning far enough out so you have the opportunity to choose the place you want. Now, keep in mind that if you plan to wed in the spring or summer, you should book your location at least one year in advance because these are the most popular months for marriage.

Now, sometimes, you might have to be creative and flexible in your choices. For instance, many younger couples getting married are on a tight budget. Therefore, while they would lov to fly all the family members and friends to a romantic castle in France, it simply is not feasible. However, by being flexible and using your creativity, you can often find a wonderful place in the city where you live.

For starters, you can contact your location Chamber of Commerce, asking them to send you information about local historical buildings, museums, art galleries, churches, parks, gardens, and so on. This will give you a much better idea of your options right where you live.

Regarding the cost of the location, you need to meet with several people for different locations. The key is to ask a lot of questions so you know exactly what would be covered. In this case, do they provide a caterer, and if so, what types of food are on the menu? Then, you might ask if you can bring in your own food and drinks, which could help cut down on the cost.

You should also consider the fall or winter months for a wedding. These are excellent times for getting married in that the cost of just about everything will be substantially lower. That means that instead of paying full price for the wedding location, you could probably secure a location for 30% to 50% less.

It is also crucial that you understand all of the costs before you sign off on a contract. Sometimes, couples see only the obvious fees but then when the final bill arrives, they about fall over. Therefore, you need to ask about things like corkage fees, caking cutting fees, servers fees, administrative fees, anything that might not be seen.

Finally, never be afraid to negotiate. Instead of taking the price of locations at face value, ask the management about how they can help you achieve the perfect wedding but at a better price. You would be surprised at how often they will work closely with you to come up with a pricing solution that works.

Remember, the wedding will be the most important day of your life so to ensure you create the magical occasion that you want, consider all your options. You can make any location perfect by being creative with decorations. What that means is that instead of discounting a certain location, think past what you see initially and envision what it could be with a little bit of thought and creativity.
